Pucker Perfection

Color and shape your pucker to perfection. Try a bold red or a sultry wine tone to bring out your inner vixen.

Or a pansy pink for girl next door allure. Our fave Soho girl colors is CORAL. It adds a bit of “come hither” to an otherwise whatevs day.

Regardless of what color you choose, perfecting the shape of your lips is essential. You have got to rock the color and to do that you have to apply a bold strong shape. No mushy smeared lines, because girl, that aint sexy ‘til later…

THIS:
Get smooth. Don’t let flaky dry lips ruin the deal. Smooth them out with a gentle lip scrub. Soften them with a moisturizing balm. Do this on the regular so it’s a non issue.

Layers aren’t just for sweaters. Start out with a lip pencil that matches your lipstick of choice. Line your lips then fill them in completely. Add a layer of lipstick on top. If you really need to pump up the staying power, blot with a tissue. Add another layer of lipstick. As a final touch, add a small bit of matching gloss to the center of your bottom lip. Talk about kissable!

Pointy?  Round? Sssshhhhhhhhhhhh! Here is a secret even your makeup artist might not know. You can change the shape of your lips just by what direction you put your liner on with. If you want a sexy, fashionista, pointy lip, you draw the top lip line downward on each side. Then draw a small v in downward strokes in the center. If you want a full, rounded, sultry bow lip you draw the line upward on each side rounding all the way to the center.

Know where you are going. Will you get touch up breaks? Are you eating? Long sweaty dance party? Pack accordingly. Don’t forget a little foundation or concealer to touch up any bleeding as well as your lipstick, pencil and lip brush. We would die without our SOHO Claws & Effects Organizer to carry our lip essentials.

Commit. Don’t punk out with some blah beigy mauve. If you are gonna rock this, do it right. Pick a color that has a true pigment. Make a statement. Mint green, lilac, turquoise, its all you.  Get it.

Mega Makeover Moment - Highlighting

When we discovered how instantly gorge we looked with highlighting we decided to pass this FYI on. Biggest deal ever!

Where do I even begin you ask? Here’s the how and why highlighting is gonna make your Friday night insta selfie worthy. (kaboooooom)

Inner corners of eyes: Gives you that wide doe eyed look.

Temples and upper cheekbones: For supermodel chiseled bone structure.

Bridge of nose: a narrow highlight from between the eyes to the tip of your nose elongates your face and adds symmetry. Keep this one in check, if you over highlight, you just get a big nose.

Cupids bow: a little light right above the upper lip creates a fullness that adds a bit of pout.

Center of forehead and bottom of chin: Pulls whole look together

Little something extra, when wearing bitty straps or going strapless add some highlight to your collarbone, tips of shoulders and cleavage: just makes you look that much hotter. (rawrrrr)

Tools of the trade: You can highlight with a shimmery cream or powder. Powder lasts longer but cream looks more dewy and natural. Use a synthetic brush like Get a Grip Foundation Brush for cream. For powder fluffy soft brushes like Get a Grip Eyeshadow Brush for small areas and Get a Grip Blush Brush for the larger areas are the best choices.

Take a Brow

Brows have a super huge impact on not only your eyes but, on your entire identity! (ok, maybe not really but… kind of) If they are filled in wrong or uneven, it changes your look dramatically. SOOO not ok. Guess what?! We’re taking a minute to show you the do’s for bombshell brows. (And, a few don’ts too)

First, pick the right color. The most natural color is going to be two shades lighter than your hair if your hair is dark. If your hair is dark brown or black, please, please, do not put black in your brows unless your next job interview has the word vampire in the description.
If your hair is light, go one to two shades darker.

And remember, color tends to show redder on skin so always choose a color that is ashy or taupe. If you have red hair choose a neutral color. Because again, its going to go more red once its on.

Got it? Ok, lets move on.

Your brow should start directly above your tear duct. If the hair is sparse or thin, fill it in. Bring out your arch by slightly filling in at the top of your brow above the arch. And, finish the brow by making sure it ends at a 45 degree angle from the corner of your eye. If not, extend it.

Now, to fill in.

Take a flat angle brush. Hint: the pros often use a flat angle eyeliner brush for the job. You can too with Get A Grip eyeliner brush. Its fab for the job.
You can use a powder with a teensy bit of water, colored brow wax or opt for a fine point pencil. Trace the outer edge of the brow. If brows are missing hair, just follow along the new edge right below gap or sparse area.

Once you have the outer brow shaped take your brush and fill in the brow with feathery strokes. Use the bristles to blend the hairs with the brow product.

For quick easy cleanup, take a damp cotton swab and trace around the brow for a clean edge…Viola!

Us girls at Soho love keeping our brows bangin’. Now you know how we do it.

Skinlicious: The Get a Grip Foundation Brush

With weather changes and hormonal upheavals, it takes some serious angst out on our skin. Us gals at SOHO Beauty like to fight back with some mega moves involving a little time, some tricks o’ the trade and a killer beauty tool (if we don’t say-so ourselves)!
So, if you are ready, here are some basic steps to babe-dom

Dry Flaky Skin 101: Once you have cleansed your skin, take some rose water or witch hazel in a spray bottle. Mist, mist, mist. This refreshes the skin and adds moisture. Follow up with your fave moisturizer. We like to get all bougie and apply it with our Get a Grip Foundation Brush. It’s like spa time at home. Your skin will be perfectly primed for your makeup to glide on effortlessly. Every girl needs to know: apply foundation base with a synthetic brush. The smooth bristles leave an even coverage. We always use our Get a Grip Foundation Brush, its got that pro cred with its ergonomic handle and Ah-mazing bristles.

Feeling Dull? End the blahs by highlighting to bring out your  bodacious bone structure. Dab a liquid or cream highlighter on your upper cheekbones, bridge of your nose, near your tear duct and the center of your forehead with Get a Grip Foundation Brush…. Once applied, blend the edges out with the beveled side of the bristles on the brush. Go from Dull to Hot, hot, hot in just a few strokes! Sweet!

Got a blemish? Banish that bad boy! Apply your favorite concealer to the offending area with the Get a Grip Foundation brush then blot the blemish with a tissue. Repeat 2 or 3 times. The tissue removes the excess oil from the product and gets you mega coverage. Finish up by dusting (into oblivion!) with a loose powder.

Not goth? Then you definitely do NOT want grey smudginess under your eyes. When doing your best smoky eye forget concealer...until your eyes are done of course! Wiping away shadow fall out is much easier on bare skin with a damp cotton swab. Then, apply fresh concealer and BOOM. You got eyes for days. Again, we think the Soho Get a Grip foundation brush… is all that.

Too much brow? Sometimes we get a little crazy with the arch, we admit. If the pencil went way out of the lines a quick easy way to take control is with your newest BFF… the GET A GRIP FOUNDATION BRUSH! A little bit of foundation smoothed along the edges of your brow will take the drag queen right out of your arch.

So, there you have it. A beauty bonanza in one brush.  How would you use the Get a Grip Foundation brush?
